This bar brings together two distinct tastes of India: cacao grown in Kerala’s lush, rain-fed hills and the chai spices that fill kitchens and teacups across the world.
Roots & Culture in Every Bite
In the southern state of Kerala, cacao trees thrive under the shade of coconut palms and rubber trees, fed by monsoon rains and nutrient-rich red soil. The beans grown here carry a bright, fruity character—notes of green apple, apricot, and honey—layered with warm spice and a lingering finish of dried fruit.
We source these beans through GoGround Beans & Spices, a farmer-centered network focused on quality, sustainability, and community. Women lead the post-harvest fermentation and drying, and even the runoff from fermentation is turned into biogas for local energy.
To honor the land and culture these beans come from, we pair them with a traditional Indian chai blend: green cardamom, ginger, fennel, cinnamon, black pepper, and clove. The result is a chocolate bar that’s comforting, layered, and deeply rooted in place.

These cocoa beans are new for us—and we’ve fallen for them. They come from Kerala, India where cacao grows beneath coconut palms and rubber trees, pulling nutrients from red soil and thriving in monsoon-fed forests.
The flavor is unlike any other origin we’ve used. It’s bright, floral, and full of energy. To us, it tastes like Indian culture—vibrant, layered, and alive.
We source these beans through GoGround Beans & Spices, a farmer-focused network in southern India. They pay small-scale growers directly, invest in post-harvest quality, and keep every step transparent and community-driven. Women lead the fermentation and drying process, with a focus on quality.
